Avengers: Endgame Encore fell 83% in its second weekend, earning about $4.4 million in 3,000 theaters and dropping to seventh place. The week before, the extended re-release had been No. 1 on the domestic chart.
The fall is steep, but typical for event re-releases that rely on a first-weekend rush of fans. Daily grosses over the weekend ranged from about $2.0 million on Saturday to $1.3 million on Sunday.
The re-release has still helped the film's lifetime numbers. Avengers: Endgame stood at about $895.5 million domestically as of Tuesday, October 6, according to The Numbers. Earlier this month, the Encore cut helped push the film back ahead of Avatar as the highest-grossing movie of all time worldwide. Read our earlier report on the record.
